Model #800 Working Requirements

DO NOT

· DRAG
· PULL
· PUSH

Lock-N-Lift Tools are not to be used for side pull or push. If the tools are dragged or pushed to the side or along the ground while in a steel trench plate, stress will develop on the ankle part of the tool causing foot breakage and/or the center plate to become pinched. If a tool is abused in this fashion, tool life will be shortened and the working load limit for the tool will be unknown.

The Model 800 Tool is designed to be used with either a hook or a chain shackle and must be inserted into a Lock-N-Lift #500B weld plate.

Large Plates

For extra long plates, it is recommended that two tools be used with a spreader bar for stability and to minimize stress. The plate should be measured in thirds along its longest part and a #500B weld in plate placed on each third division.

Hook and Shackle Recommendations

The Model 800 tool works well with either a hook with a maximum thickness of 1-1/8”, or a chain shackle with a 7/8” or 1” diameter pin. The hook or shackle should have a working load limit of 4 tons minimum. When using a hook, remember that the hook is holding the tool closed, and should be sized to ensure that the tool is held tightly shut. When using a shackle instead of a hook with this tool, use a Chain Shackle to avoid any possible slippage or bending of the tool if the trench plate jumps. Do not use the Model 800 tool with an anchor shackle
